Warevagai takes out K1,500 in Central village canoe race

GAVUONE in Central came alive on Tuesday when the village hosted a canoe race, much to the delight of villagers and visitors.
Seventy canoes took part in the race which lasted for almost eight hours.
Warevagai came in first place while Wairaone Onegai and Normal came second and third respectively.
In fourth place was Kome Velegai.  Abau MP Sir Puka Temu kicked off the race at 10am. 
The winners shared  K30,000 among themselves  with Warevagai taking out K1,500 for winning the race.
Meanwhile, 58 canoes will race today.
The contest will be hosted by the Wairaone Onegai family.
The winners will receive K2,000 from the total prize of K30,000.
