A CENTRAL Court Magistrate has issued a warrant of arrest for a 26-year-old alleged sex offender accused of groping his 10-year-old step daughter.
Magistrate Laura Kuvi issued the warrant after the Central man failed to turn up in court on Tuesday.
She made the warrant returnable on March 2 for mention on the man’s sexual touching and abuse of trust case.
It was alleged that on Dec 16 last year, at a village in Vanapa, Kairuku-Hiri district, Central, the man told the girl to follow him to the garden where he assaulted her.
The victim was confused and in shock and started to cry after the accused began masturbating.
She was allowed to leave by the accussed (her step-father) after she told the accused that she wanted to drink water.
She then ran to the village and reported the incident to her mother who was sick.
She was told by the mother not to tell anyone in fear that her step-father would hurt them (her and the mother).
On Dec 31, it was alleged that the step-father told the girl to follow him to their garden at the river side where she was assaulted again.
The girl returned to the village crying and told her aunt about the ordeal.
The aunt promptly reported the incident to the local police.
The man then surrendered to police.
