A KILLING of an innocent man has brought two warring tribes in Ambum district, Enga together.
Fighting between the Kaih and Timtim clan in Ambum valley in Enga has ended conflict last week after five years of on-going fight.
The fight stopped after the relatives of the deceased told the two warring tribes that they would not take revenge or retaliate over the killing but, wanted them to stop fighting and make peace.
Lawrence Lum, 32, of Tymboke clan was shot dead by Kaih clan for no good reason.
A relative of the deceased and a former councillor George Pyari of Tymboke tribe said during Lum’s funeral service at his Tsikero village that he would not retaliate or ask compensation but, he wanted both rival tribes to stop the fight and reconcile.
Pyari said his tribesmen were peace loving people adding, this was a tenth killing from his tribe by the neighbouring tribes to make enemies with them but, they always forgive and make peace with them.
“This is one of the 10 similar killings by neighbouring tribes in past years but, we do not want to take revenge or demand compensation, we want peace and harmony to prevail in our area,” he said.
