THE Six-Mile Warriors opened their new sets of jerseys in style, defeating the Five-Mile Kongos 6-0 in the main game of the Boroko Off-Season Rugby League at the Unagi Oval on Sunday.

The jerseys were donated by Minister for Sports, 2015 Pacific Games and National Events Justin Tkatchenko under the Sports Enhancement Programme initiative.

Moresby-South electoral manager and Tkatchenko’s right hand man Aisop Mol presented the jerseys to the Six-Mile boys before they took the field.

His presence motivated the warriors as they rang rings around the Kongos defence complimented by their bone crunching tackles.

Ipatas Cup bound and Port Moresby Butterflies stuntman John Bonnie stepped a couple of Kongos defenders to score the only try of the match. The try was converted by lock Mane Thomas who setup Bonnie’s try.

Former Lae Tigers second row Wanpis Pono, prop Albert Iso Brown, hooker Jonah David, halfback Samuel Gideon, Thomas and super sub Michael Boeo were in devastating form for the Six-Mile Warriors in defence and attack.

With three rounds left, the Warriors are hitting top form.
