DOBO Warriors president Wari Varage has called on all clubs in the Port Moresby rugby league competition to come together this afternoon and get the house in order.
Varage, with the blessing of PRL chairman Labi Amaiu plans to get all clubs to work together after a disappointing turnout at the last delegates meeting.
The first step to forging this co-operation is through a meeting today at 5pm at the PRL.
“I think that it is time for us as clubs to take responsibility for our competition, and work towards moving it forward,” Varage said.
“We cannot do this without the input of all the clubs.”
Varage is intent on fund-raising for the PRL, with plans to bring some high profile Australian rugby league players to assist.
“I want to put a big clock up for timings of games, proper scoreboard and develop areas around the grounds. I want PRL to be as professional as we can make it.”
Responsible for setting up Vipers Larsen Marabe’s NSW stint, Varage is also looking at giving other players that opportunity.
With the responsibility he has been given, Varage has moved swiftly over the past couple of days, beginning with the manning of the PRL venue gates to properly keeping track of gate takings.
“We collected about K500 plus on Saturday from the gates and that is going to the bank account, and if that is what we can make per day, we can do a lot of things to improve our competition and the facilities.”
