Watch your dress code, manners, MPs reminded

Speaker Job Pomat, pictured, has reminded MPs about following the standard House dress code and their mannerism.
Pomat said he had to maintain the standing order for Parliament.
“This week the Speaker and chairman noted that MPs have not shown the standard of dress code,” Pomat said last week.
“I have also noted that when a member of Parliament is speaking, there were occasions where other MPs have left their seat or walked out.
“Standing orders do not allow MPs to walk out while other member is speaking.
“Also, it is against the order of the House to be speaking to another member while the session is in progress.”
Pomat said Standing Order 54 stated that all MPs, once they took their seat, will not leave the chamber.
“The MPs are not allowed to walk out and stand in the corridor or over to another MP and speak to him while the session is underway,” the Speaker said.
Meanwhile, Parliament continues for another week starting tomorrow at 10am.
