Water fountain a traffic hazard

Letters, Normal

I WOULD like to say a very big thank you to NCD Governor Mr Powes Parkop for his continuity of beautifying the nations capital of Port Moresby. Port Moresby is now stamping its own mark as the big city in the South Pacific a part of Australia and New Zealand. However, I would like to point out that the water fountain at Five-Mile roundabout is a real traffic hazard. It poses a high risk of accidents happening whendrivers are distracted by the colourful lightings when negotiating the roundaround. An accident that happened last month at the roundabout shows how disturbing the water fountain can be. It impact on drivers is enormous and there has been many near-miss collisions there. And not only that, the roundabout next to Unagi Oval with the huge billboard of the governor, the flowers and plants have grew up rapidly and is now an obstacle to drivers when trying to maneuvre the roundabout from Courts to Foodworld. The fountain should have been built on some kind park or entertainment area, well away from the freeway. The relevant authorizes must take note and act accordingly before another accident strikes.
