Water PNG partners with netball
WATER PNG, under its corporate sports and community sponsorship programme, announced a K50,000 sponsorship deal for Netball PNG last Thursday.
The sponsorship will run over three years, starting this year.
The funding will be for Netball PNG’s schools outreach programme throughout the country, which starts next month.
Water PNG chief executive and managing director Raka Taviri during the official cheque presentation said: “Water PNG has provided corporate support to sports, more so in the last four, five years.
“While our support has not been visible from our perspective, we’ve actually supported more at the strategic and development level.
“The main goal for sponsoring netball this year is because of the PNG Sports Federation’s strategic plan to integrate sports into the community,” he said.
Netball PNG president Julienne Leka-Maliaki said: “This is the result of a review of our strategic plan, with the focus now being shifted to schools.
“This will increase participation of students and under-privileged girls in netball communities throughout the country.”
