About 2,000 people of Four Road in Wau rural local level government in Morobe’s Bulolo will now have access to clean water right at their door steps after a water supply project was opened on Saturday.
Local MP Sam Basil opened the water supply project for wards two and three last Saturday, which cost around K25,000.
Basil said the water supply project had 24 taps to service the communities who had been asking for a water supply since 2012.
“I am happy with the community project to get this water supply project done,” he said.
“This water is free so I want you to take good care of such services you have.”
Basil told the villagers that they would maintain the water.
He has been prioritising water and power supply into villages in his electorate since being elected as a member of parliament and is aiming to connect all villages in the district with water and power.
Four Road spokesperson Anna Tom said they faced problems in getting clean water and the water supply project was a relief for them.
“We have no water and we dig the main Bulolo River in search for clean power and we’ve been constantly knocking on the door of the MP.”
