WATER problems will soon be a thing of the past for women in Rabaul district as they take delivery of water tanks and containers.

The Rabaul District Council of Women has received 60 Tuffa tanks funded with more than K200,000 from the District Services Improvement Programme (DSIP) funds.

According to the Council of Women president and Women representative in the Rabaul District Development Authority board, Fidelma Kinakap, the tanks were purchased from KK Kingston in Lae through Rabaul Metal Industries (RMI) in Rabaul.

Kinakap said women in Rabaul were often the worst affected during volcano eruptions despite them being the ones who catered most for their families’ water needs.

The water tanks would be given to their custody in the wards.
