WAU Primary School teachers and students celebrated the launching of a new public announcement (PA) system at the school last week.
The new system which cost K1300, was purchased by the school from the market fees collected by mothers from their food sales at the school every day since the start of the school year.
Market mothers spokeswoman Roengi Bangan said: “The market mothers were happy to give something back to help develop the school in a small way.
“We are happy to pay market registration fee of K10 and K1 daily market fee which reached K1300 to help meet the cost of the new PA system for the school,” she said.
Bangan said the mothers also paid for two 3000 litre water tanks for the school in 2014-2015 from their market fees. The water tanks cost K500 each. This is the first time for such an initiative to be undertaken by the school.
Bangan said the next school project that the market mothers will help contribute towards is the purchase of a new brush cutter for the school.
“We should purchase the new brush cutter by the end of the year from our daily market fees.”
Teacher in charge of the daily market fee takings Grace Biru thanked the market mothers for their support to the school over the past years for such projeicts.
