PAPUA New Guinea and Australia enjoy a very long and good relationship, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said.
Abbot was addressing teachers, students and parents while visiting Koki Elementary and Primary School as part of his state visit.
“The Australian flag has flown over it for many years. We are not just mere neighbours but family,” he said.
“My visit to PNG is to honour that strong relationship we share.”
The school received prefabricated buildings from Australia.
“I am here today to celebrate the relationship between Australia and PNG,” Abbott said.
Abbott said PNG was an independent country with its own constitution and Australia was always a keen partner.
