We cannot ignore sorcery in PNG

Letters

MANY people are integrating the concept of gender-based violence (GBV) with sorcery-related killings.
Both are two different things.
We can respect and protect our mothers and sisters from GBV with respect to our law, however, we cannot integrate both. The Government needs to implement a system in which sorcery related matters can be tested and tried and if found guilty, put them behind bars.
Churches can pray on the accused and see the evil manifested.
This should be done instead of turning a blind eye on the matter and let the civilian take it into their own hands.
Let us all be reminded that we are Melanesians and this is a Melanesian society where sorcery is part of our culture.
We can appreciate PNG as a Christian country, but there is always good and evil at war.
We cannot ignore sorcery in PNG.
This is just my opinion.
I am tired of seeing tribal fights related to sorcery, in which many innocent lives are lost.

  • To be honest there were no sorcery in the Highlands in the 80s and going back to when they first discover the highlands region. How they got those miss guarded superstition belief from, no one knows.
People die because they were sick simple as that and there is no history of highlands witch craft. The coastal areas yes I it will hold water.
