We did not learn from past experiences

THE General Election 2022 is already going to be a disaster.
It followed in the similar footsteps of other general elections before it by producing those trademark characteristics again; deaths, destruction, injuries, fights, bribery, stolen ballot boxes and papers, destruction and loss of properties, double, triple and quadruple voting by using lemon or bleach to remove the voting ink on the finger and the list of chaotic situations and scenarios are just endless in this country.
We never seemed to learn from the past.
The Government and Electoral Commission should be ashamed of its woeful performance .
In fact, we as a country should be ashamed of ourselves.
Given our very bad record surrounding the election process, it’s time now that we be innovative and try the biometric system of voting which is used in other democratic countries.
Be it fingerprint voting, face recognition voting, voice recognition voting or whatever you call it, the point is that we must do away with the ink-on-finger voting and use biometric voting system to minimize all the evils associated with the general elections in our country.
This should be one of the first priorities of the new government. If we don’t address it then we better brace ourselves for a must worsen General Election in 2027.
General Election 2027, here we come.
