We need brains to create changes for PNG
The National, Tuesday February 4th, 2014
THE National Executive Council under the ministry of higher education, research, science and technology should have some money set aside to assist students to further their studies at overseas-based universities and colleges.
There must be some kind of acknowledgement given to students who have maintained high grades during their term of studies.
Those top students should be sponsored to do their masters or research overseas.
Likewise, those at the colleges should proceed on to complete their other two years at our local universities or overseas.
This may apply to top performing Grade 12 students too.
During graduations, private sector companies or non-government organisations are the ones to cheer up the hard-working students for their efforts.
They are the ones who give them awards and provide job opportunities.
Though the government has done its best to provide education through the years, one part that is still missing is it fails to provide scholarships overseas for hard working students.
Sheer motivation to study harder and score good grades for them to be recognised will be an outcome of the programme.
More brains will compete for the top spots and every year, hundreds of our students will be enrolled at different institutes.
The onus is on the government to create packages and networks with overseas universities to consider our top students to study there.
Just consider what the country will be like when it has many brains to develop and steer the country ahread.
