We should be concerned

Letters

I was devastated when reading the front page of The National newspaper about 15-year-old Koma Tui, who has been walking the streets of Port Moresby with bundles of peanuts in his hand – just to put food on the table for his family over Christmas.
A boy of such age should be enjoying such times as Christmas with his family, friends and peer groups.
It’s not fair.
He just hasn’t got a level playing field in life to get an opportunity to prove himself.
I’m sure after going through what Koma has, he would breeze through with flying colours if given the chance to prove himself.
Try putting yourself in Koma’s shoe.
I know many won’t want to but it’s true that there are many who are in the same shoes as Koma.
Why is this happening in PNG when we are very rich?
Who should we blame?
Even though we are blessed with abundance of wealth, we are still suffering.
We must not point fingers because it’s us (immediate parents and every citizens) and the government of the day who should be concerned for the future of this country.
