We should chip in to help Australia

Letters

THE writing is not a sarcasm or to belittle what you do.
A sacrifice of what we do will go a long way in helping Australia.
Imagine if for one day, 4 million people in PNG who have access to a mobile phone sacrifice K3 flex or top-up, 6 million betel chewers sacrifice K2, 4 million alcohol consumers spare a K4, 5 million smokers spare a K2 and 6 million church goers spare a K1 one Saturday/Sunday.
It will go a long way in assisting the victims of the ongoing bushfire that has ravaged Australia for the past four months and still terrorising Australians.
Banks in the country that charge transaction fees can donate a week’s charges to this crises that is tormenting Australia.
And, generous givers, there are plenty out there will help too.
Let us bring our Melanesian heart ‘A Game’ to the fore in this very challenging and painful event for these victims and Australia.
That is how our heart can pour out to them.
For families in this ravaging bushfire that have lost loved ones, properties, records, photos etc, these losses are pains that would last their lifetime.
PNG has benefited so much from Australia and the benefit is on-going before and after independence.
The PNG Government and the Australian High Commission in Port Moresby can work out a plan on how the assistance can be made to come through.
Appoint a time period when the call for assistance should start and end.
Points of location in the country including banks, churches, departments, workplace, shopping centres, markets etc… for this assistance to come through.
Australia needs us now Papua New Guinea than ever before!
