Wear black for Sir Michael

Letters

WE should wear black during this year’s Independence celebration.
Many of us will remember our founding father Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare on Sept 16.
This date was very important to him.
I believe that on the eve of Sept 16, 1975, he did not rest well thinking about how the next day would turn out.
Not all Papua New Guineans were able to show their respect during his funeral.
He is mainly the reason why we celebrate independence so it is fitting that we pay respect to him.
This is the first Independence celebration that he will be missing him, so let us make it a memorable one.
