Well done Kumuls

Letters

ALLOW me to congratulate the new generation of the current PNG Kumul Rugby League Team for their historical win over Great Britain Lions Rugby in POM.
It was indeed history in the making. Although I reside outside the country; I am a die-hard supporter/follower of the game with pride and admiration, particularly when our countryman take the field.
I am not alone and I am 100 per cent sure, there are thousands out there who live abroad all over will agree with me. Thank God that technology has made that possible.
I walked into my favourite restaurant after the game here in North side of Brisbane wearing my PNG national colour bilum cap, guess what, couple of the guys walked straight up to me shook my hands and said “well done PNG you have beat the GBL, it was a fantastic game”.
Oh what awesome feeling, we have just flown over one of the rugby league world giants.
I simply responded “thank you guys there are more of that to come”.
In the previous encounter when PNG beat Fiji, the perception down here in Australia was that we would be beaten easily boasting about the NRL experience players in that (Fiji) team.
Well we beat them with only a few NRL players in our team.
Some those commentators and rugby league officials here swallowed their own words. We proved them wrong.
PNG now is country you cannot take things for granted with international rugby league games. We have come a long way, and we are getting their fingers crossed.
The PNG Kumuls lastest game against the Fiji Bati, played in New Zealand, was marred with inconsistent ruling by the match official.
But our boys played a remarkable game and we can all can agree that this team is the future of PNG Kumuls and the good things to come.
I look forward to that day when we will fly over the Kangaroos, hope it will occur in my lifetime.
Well-done guys and all the best we are with you all the way.

Brisbane, Australia

  • A team in the NRL made of Pacific Islanders [samoa, tonga, fiji, png etc] will be formidable and has the potential of becoming UNBEATABLE…and a HUGE PACIFIC ISLANDS UNIFIER vehicle… if I had money, I would push that agenda….just wishful thinking tasol.

  • CONGRATULATIONS PNG KUMULS. WE WILL PROVE THE WORLD WRONG.I WILL REMEMBER THIS GAME FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. THANKS YOU FOR THE BEST MEMORIES WE WILL TREASURER THEM ALWAYS.

  • Congrats… kyle laybut is a wonderful player with very impressive kicking game and he is very defensive. He can withstand any height or weight. Please continue to support and develop this young elite until the world cup in England. Also Garry Lo is a very fast centre and he can be a very strong contingent in the forwards bank with his fast running and fending abilities. We need to keep scouting for some more young forwards from the Digicel cup and continue develop them in preparation for the World Cup in England. Well done Kumuls……..
