THE 63rd Goroka Show next year will be much bigger and better, vows Eastern Highlands Governor Peter Numu .
He assured the people of Eastern Highlands, show goers from other parts of the country and a record number of overseas tourists of his government’s commitment to support the show.
Numu urged the people to go into agriculture with their products to be displayed and promoted at the 2019 show. He said the 62nd show this year focused on promoting agriculture and tourism.
Numu said the 2019 show would focus on promoting economic livelihood, culture and self-sustainability.
“The Eastern Highlands provincial government will give increased financial back up to next years show,” he said.
Numu urged landowners to develop tourism sites to bring revenue into the province and gave K100 000 to the show with the promise of more in 2019.
Show chairlady Keryn Hargreaves said they were looking at a much bigger and better event next year under the theme ‘agriculture and tourism’.
She said agriculture and tourism were the “backbone of PNG” and it was fitting that Ungai-Bena MP Benny Allan was Agriculture and Livestock Minister.
Hargreaves thanked all sponsors and everyone else who contributed.
