PAPUA New Guinea Hunters winger Adex Wera has been named on an extended bench for Sunday’s Intrust Super Cup round 15 clash against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls.
The 26-year-old returns from a two-game suspension for a dangerous throw in the round 12 fixture against the Ipswich Jets.
Hunters coach Michael Marum said Wera had trained hard and was eager to get back on the paddock for the match at the NFS.
Marum said Wera, despite being named on the bench, was in contention to start on the wing, with Philemon Kimisive in doubt with a knee injury from the win over the Souths Logan Magpies last Saturday.
The Hunters could be without their chief play-maker Ase Boas after the five-eighth and replacement hooker Warren Glare were cited for a dangerous throw and awaiting the Q-Cup Judiciary decision.
Marum said if both were suspended, he would bring in Atte Bina Wabo into the halves.
“We’ve got several injured guys from the weekend with Philemon (Kimisive), Henry Wan and Esau Siune but we’ve named in the side for Saturday and we’ll assess them later in the week,” Marum said.
“Stargorth Amean (concussion) and Timothy Lomai (thumb) are back in training but they still need to pass the fitness tests before we make a decision on them.”
