WEST Eagles are eyeing their third-straight Port Moresby Australian Football League A-grade title as they remain undefeated after round four of the season.
Eagles coach Joe Timothy told The National on Saturday that his side were made up young players with a number of experienced players who were consistent.
He said his men were continuing their form that saw them win the 2019 and 2020 premierships.
“We won back-to-back premierships based on our form and experience,” Timothy said.
“We almost did the same last year as we were leading the competition ladder until the cancellation of the season due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
“For this season, we have started strong with all wins and no losses so far.
“I believe we have a good mixture of experienced and young players who have been consistent since the start of the season.
“We are happy to have the experiences of Papua New Guinea Mosquitoes players in Kelly Kaugla, Jeffery Vogae, Alistair Sioni and Camillo Ekari.
“The experienced players are really having an impact on how we play and the results of each game.
“It would be good if we can continue this form as we have a long season ahead.”
However, Timothy said his men still needed improvement despite being in the pole spot of the competition ladder.
“We have a lot of rounds remaining this season,” he said.
“We have to look at improving in each game.
“We are taking it one game at a time.
“We can’t afford to be complacent and look far ahead.”
