WEST New Britain election manager Emily Siamoli has praised the provincial government and administration for providing financial support for local level government elections.

She said yesterday that progress was slow due to lack of funds from the national government.

“Despite the funding problems we are facing with the national government, we are getting the support from the provincial government and its administration,” Siamoli said.

“We are moving at a slow pace but we will get there. There is a good teamwork with the provincial administration and I am certain we will get there smoothly despite lack of funds.”

Siamoli said enrolment of eligible voters had already closed and all details had been sent to the Electoral Commission in Port Moresby to be processed.

Siamoli said electoral awareness was conducted in the province but not all areas were covered due to lack of funds.

She confirmed 12 assistant returning officers for the province, five for Kandrian district and seven for Talasea district.
