West Papuans deserve better

THE recent move by three MPs to support and recognise West Papuan self-rule is commendable.
West Papuans deserves fair and respectable treatment from individuals and governments collectively.
Our Melanesian brothers and sisters deserve more from us.
In recent months, however, the West Papuans’ appalling issues were obviously mishandled.
I think the dreadful handling of the issue is regrettable.  
The show of support by our three leaders, namely Powes Parkop, Jamie Maxtone-Graham and Boka Kondra, will go a long way for our brothers and sisters in West Papua.
In spite of the evident atrocities and abuses of human rights, West Papuans will never give up their fight for independence.
