Western Union expands through PNG Post links

WESTERN Union will begin to have a greater nationwide presence through Post PNG after a progressive rollout to about 50 post offices in the country over the next few months.
The partnership was launched this week and will be aiming to reach all PNG post offices, says Western Union regional-director Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands Tasko Alcevski.
The money transfer company already has a presence in about 10 BSP branches as a network agent.
It aims to go into banks in other centres in PNG.
“We are launching Post PNG offering the Western Union service,” Alcevski said.
“This is already provided in over 200 countries and over 500,000 locations globally.
“Now Post PNG as well as BSP customers can send through that network.
“This project took about 12 months to bring to fruition and we are very excited.
“Within the next month we will have the entire network rolled out and it is just great to provide the best in global money transfers in PNG.”
Post PNG chairman Maxwell Paiye said the partnership was another initiative by the State-owned enterprise to allow more ease and options to customers.
“Offering Western Union at the Post PNG offices nationwide will make it more convenient for customers to send and receive money worldwide, with ease, thus contributing to socio-economic development in PNG,” he said.
