Western waits for help

NORTH Fly MP James Donald says Western is awaiting assistance from the government, especially in the worst-affected regions of Nomad and Mougulu on the border with Southern Highlands.
Donald, who visited the two areas last week, managed to airlift K205,000 worth of relief supplies via Mission Aviation Fellowship
charter flights into Mougulu and Nomad. The charter flights cost K73,000.
Donald called on the government and donors to fairly distribute rations to provinces affected by the earthquake.
“There are thousands of people being affected,” he said.
“They’ve lost their homes, infrastructure and food gardens. Some villages in the Olsobip LLG (North Fly) are yet to be assisted.
“We don’t want to see unfair distribution of relief supplies into one province or district but a fair distribution to Enga, Hela, Southern Highlands and Western.”
