Western’s choice of PA praised

Letters

I WRITE to congratulate Robert Alphonse Kaiyun on his new appointment as the Provincial Administrator for Western.
Kaiyun is qualified, experienced and matured for this position and I commend the appointing authorities on this merit-based appointment.
I came to know him during my numerous visits to Kiunga where I was required to make calls to the provincial authorities to inform them of the company’s exploration activities in the district, a regulatory requirement of the State.
He during those times was district CEO and little later acting PA.
I found him to be humble, down to earth, simple and of good character. He used to assign me the most senior district affairs officer whom I would take along to the project-impacted villages to conduct awareness on the upcoming exploration work in their communities.
He wanted the companies to do their work and also ensure maximum benefit to his people and province.
He used to facilitate formal meetings with his management team to which I would formally introduce my team and explain the different stages of exploration and development and together the types of benefits that go with the different stages.
