WESTPAC has announced the Westpac Outstanding Women (WOW) Awards for this year.

Managing director Geoff Toone made the announcement last Friday when inviting people to nominate and have women recognised for their contribution towards development of the country.

“Every day in PNG we see women shine in homes, in communities, government education and increasingly businesses and workforce,” Toone said.

“These women are building positive legacy for other women and girls in this country that is rapidly changing.

“This programme (WOW) is designed to celebrate and award the accomplishment of women that are making the difference in their chosen fields.

“Some WOW women have managed to break down the glass ceiling and take the leadership roles in PNG.

“Others show outstanding leaderships across communities and humanitarian fields.

“Some are successful entrepreneurs and young leaders,” he said.

This would be ninth year for WOW awards and nominations would be open until September 25th. There is also online form for nominations.

Toone noted two new sponsors for this year, Moore Printing and Pacific Assurance Group with two new categories, non for profit and sports awards, bringing total to seven awards.

“We’ve made it easier for those working in government and non-profit organisations sphere to nominate their award by carving it out from the others.

“Westpac believe in the success of PNG, and we believe they will be the core of the success of PNG in the next 100 years,” Toone said.
