WESTPAC PNG continues to strengthen its ongoing support to community and sustainability with a donation of K25,000 in support of the annual Salvation Army red shield appeal.
Chief executive Brett Hooker said during the presentation last week that the donation was part of Westpac’s Covid-19 assistance and would go towards supporting the Salvation Army with its humanitarian programmes across the country.
“Westpac is committed to helping customers, communities and people prosper and this is a great way to recognise Salvation Army’s effort in providing religious, humanitarian, medical and education services through established missions throughout Papua New Guinea,” Hooker said.
“Westpac also has plans for a staff volunteering programme and we look forward to exploring this opportunity with Salvation Army in the coming months.”
PNG Salvation Army territorial commander Col Garth Niemand in receiving the donation from Westpac PNG at the red shield appeal thank the bank for the money.
He said the money was appreciated, especially during this uncertain and challenging time with the Covid-19 impacting corporate contributions.
“The donation will go a long way to support the organisation’s social programmes,” Col Niemand said.
