Wewak receives new bishop

 A CHURCH organisation in Port Moresby has welcomed the appointment of its bishop for the Wewak diocese.

Catholic Professionals Society of PNG president Paul Harricknen said they welcomed the appointment of Father Jozef Rosznski. 

“We warmly welcome the appointment of Fr Jozef Rosznski as the bishop-elect for the Wewak diocese,” he said.

“The diocese was without a bishop since the death of Bishop Tony Burgess in 2014.”

Rosznski arrived in the country in October 1992 and lived mostly in Wewak. He served as parish priest in Kunjingini,Warabung and Roma from 1993 to 2000. Rosznski was appointed mission secretary for the province in March 2014.

He assists with pastoral work in the parishes of Wewak which are without a resident priest.

The ordination for Rosznski as bishop-elect for Wewak will be held in Wewak on Saturday, April 25.
