CLASSES at the Bishop Leo Secondary School in Wewak, East Sepik have been suspended since Monday for an indefinite period following a break-in at the school library last Saturday.
According to the school administration, it is missing a desktop computer and vulgar graffiti was written on the walls and benches, against a six female teachers of the school.
Principal Steven Buin said the classes were suspended as most of these female teachers were quite upset at what happened during the weekend.
During a school assembly on Monday, the students were notified of the incident before Catholic Education Secretary Patrick Karu declared classes suspended for an indefinite period.
He said the school had no idea who was involved in the break-in.
But he added that the technique used by the suspects to enter the library and the vulgar descriptions used against the female teachers indicated that they were familiar with the school and the teachers of the school.
“We have suspended classes for a definite period but I will be having a meeting with the teachers to see if we can be able to start classes again soon.
“This because the education of some innocent students will be disrupted just because of what has happened,” he said.
Buin appealed to the students, parents including the surrounding communities to help identify the suspects so they can be dealt with under the law.
