Wharf deal closing in

THE signing for the execution of sale and purchase agreement for the relocation of the Port Moresby wharf to Motukea will happen this week, Public Enterprises and State Investments Minister Ben Micah said.
He said the signing will be between the Independent Public Business Corporation (IPBC), PNG Ports Ltd and Curtain Brothers.
Micah said that last Thursday following the announcement of the partnership between bmobile and Vodafone.
He said the arrangement for the relocation of Port Moresby wharf had been approved by the cabinet.
Micah said the “execution of the sale and purchase agreement between IPBC, PNG Ports Corporation Ltd and Curtain Brothers for the acquisition for a portion of Motukea Island, which the cabinet has already approved so we can relocate the port to Motukea Island.”
The ceremony was delayed to this week following instructions from Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
“We’ve received instructions from Prime Minister (Peter O’Neill) to hold until further clarification. I believe by next week (this week) we will advise the media and everyone for the signing to take place.”
Meanwhile, Micah said the current port area at downtown, Port Moresby would become a major recreational and commercial area.
