A pupil who topped the grade 8 national examinations in Madang says the secret to his achievement was ‘having Jesus as his best friend’.
Carlos Ruari, the son of late Engan-based state prosecutor Michael Ruari, from Mekarop in Bogia in Madang, scored 50 out of 50 in the national grade 8 maths exam, 44 out of 50 in English and 45 out 50 in combine subject.
Ruari was awarded both the internal and external dux awards at the Erima Primary School outside Madang town.
Head teacher Agoa Ura said Erima Primary School topped the province in maths national exam because Ruari scored 50 out of 50.
Ruari said he dedicated his achievement to his late father, saying he could have been very proud of his achievement if he had been alive.
Ruari’s mother, Veronica, said Ruari has the hunger and passion for school.
“At most times he does not care if there was breakfast or not,” she said.
Ruari’s step father, Tonny Hare, said Ruari loves reading and has self-discipline.
“I love going to church on Sabbath and I made Jesus as my best friend and I know he helped me achieved this awards,” Ruari said.
“I dedicate my achievement to my late father and want to tell my friends that the secret is to love Jesus and love school,” he said.
