What happened to the plastic ban?

WHAT happened to the plastic bag ban?
It was imposed by the Government some time ago last year.
I do not know about other provinces but here in Lae, it is back to normal again.
All the stores and supermarkets are using harmful plastic bags besides the environmentally-friendly bags used when the ban was imposed.
What is alarming is that, these plastic bags are hard and non-biodegradable types.
Is the Conservation and Environment Protection Authority going to do something about it?
