What have we achieved in the last 45 years?

Letters

I HAVE seen leaders and the people of PNG celebrating Independence Day year after year without really understanding the fact that after 45 years, we have gained nothing better than going into a turbulence of disaster.
I have observed that roads into rural areas have deteriorated.
They have gone from bad to worse without maintenance for many years.
Government buildings in rural areas have also deteriorated with no maintenance.
There has been a lack in check and balance in accounting for public funds by politicians and public servants.
I could go on with the list of everything that is not working.
I hope people are noticing that.
I did not celebrate with pride as I worked in my garden.
I wish every Papua New Guinean had boycotted this celebration.
What have we really achieved?
