PNG Airport Limited (PNGAL) yesterday received 16 new vehicles to help ground staff carry out their work more efficiently.
Eight of the vehicles would be used by Jackson International Airport ground staff, while the rest would be distributed to other airports.
The vehicles were secured under a lease arrangement with ANZ Bank.
PNGAL business and corporate manager Patrick Maiyau said airport operation was more service-oriented and thus needed resources to perform better.
“The management has seen this and made this commitment,” Mr Maiyau said.
PNGAL chief operations officer Clement Kapapal said they had been operating with limited resources, including vehicles which were very old.
The Port Moresby vehicles were distributed to customer service, POM international airport, airport maintenance, safety operations, security, airport rescue fire services, safety operations and ground maintenance.
The other eight vehicles would go to Lae, Madang, Goroka, Mt Hagen, Tokua (Rabaul) and Wewak.
