Where has the money for Chimbu gone to?

K30 MILLION was given to Chimbu last year under the PSIP programme.

This funding was managed and administered by the governor for infrastructure projects.

However, in the history of Chimbu, this is the first time that such funding was  allocated  for the governor’s discretions on infrastructure projects.

But  the sad fact is there are no real infrastructure developments on the ground to show.

Where has all the money gone to and what have we achieved?

I do not know how the government arrived  at  allocating  the K30 million for Chimbu, but I am of the opinion that the governor ought to know that we have six districts which comprise of open electorates and each electorate has its own MP.

So the K30 million was to be equally divided into portions of K5 million for the six districts.

The  governor  as  the  head  of   the  province has to show leadership in organising all electorate MPs and call regular consultative meetings to ensure the effective use of the money.

And the key implementers and coordinators are the public servants who are trained and paid by the government.

I am flabbergasted that a small resource-strapped province like Chimbu is taking on board some ‘prized consultants’ to initiate   some illusion projects.

They  owe  it  to  the  people to justify how the proposed Karamui Mega Hydro Electricity project would benefit this district.

Our dream for the Karamui road opening up the economic corridors of Chimbu and PNG still remains our biggest trance.

Over K42 million was spent on the road project but it is still in a despicable stage.
