MOROBE Governor Kelly Naru wants to know where in Lae the K100 million Works Minister Francis Awesa is talking about is held.

Awesa had said that K100 million for Lae city road repair and upgrade was sitting in a trust account.

He  told a dinner for engineers in Port Moresby that K100 million allocated for this year by the national government was sent to Lae but the money was not used and he was concerned as the year’s end was nearing.

“I want to say that despite what the Morobe governor had said in the media recently that the money has been spent, the money is still in Lae in a trust account,” Awasa had stated.

“The money has been sent over there. He has to ask the Morobe administrator, Works manager Lae and all the stakeholders why they haven’t used the money.”

But Naru yesterday denied any such funds had been transferred.

“With respect to Awesa, I want to put the record straight that there is no trust account with K100 million for Lae roads. I have checked with the provincial administrator and works manager and found that the minister’s comments were not correct.”
