Where is the money?

Letters

BEFORE we were engaged to provide services, the PNG Electoral Commission assured us of availability of funding.
It was all budgeted in the 2017 national election, we were told.
Without hesitation, many of us companies, businesses and organisations went into agreement and provided services without any upfront payments.
We willingly offered our services and expected the same gesture from the good Electoral Commission office.
However, to our dismay, dissatisfaction and misery, we were absolutely let down when we were not paid our dues as assured.
The last thing we knew was that Finance Secretary Dr Ken Ngangan decided to put on hold many payment claims for reasons known only to his office until Feb 2018.
I now wish that we good service providers had agreed and stopped the support we gave to the commission during the election.
There would have been total chaos and disaster if we’d done that in 2018.
However, we are people with a good heart, and provided the services only to have the commission not leaving up to commitment.
We are all in misery now
We are now challenging the Finance Department and the Electoral Commission to pay our dues before we start our normal business operations in 2018.
