POLLING in many parts of Western Highlands was progressing smoothly yesterday.

Election manager Philip Telape said despite a few hiccups, polling started smoothly except for the Hagen urban LLG council.

Telape said there were too many disturbances at polling booths in Hagen city where voters did not vote properly.

He said there was no polling in Mul because of criminal activity on the road and he would decide today with the candidates and leaders whether to have polling there.

Telape said polling in Dei, Hagen Central, Baiyer and Tambul-Nebilyer had progressed smoothly.

“Some of the polling places had disturbances and people did not vote. We will decide today whether to send the polling teams out.”
