THE Western Highlands Rugby League Referees Association will be holding the first clinic in March.
The clinic is funded by the Western Highlands provincial government for K15,000.
Team coaches and referees have been urged to attend the clinic.
Governor Tom Olga said it was his vision to promote sports in the province.
He made the commitment at Rebiamul outside Mt Hagen last year.
Association chairman Francis Kot said the clinic would start on March 28.
Kot said there were no clinics in the past because of funding woes.
However, with funding available, he said the referees and the team coaches would attend the clinics so that they could improve their skills and gain more knowledge.
Kot said sport was a tool used to promote discipline, health and change the mindset of people.
He said it would also help promote rugby league in the province.
Kot said it was important for a leader to look into sporting activities as an important step forward for the people to benefit and change their way of life.
