Why do we tolerate double-standard justice?
The National, Thursday March 27th, 2014
I DO not really agree with how our justice system is functioning today.
Where is fairness when an MP steals millions of kina and is given leniency not to be jailed while a little person who steals such money is either shot to death, beaten up or thrown in jail?
Is it fair justice or jungle justice that we are promoting?
Allowing an MP who steals millions of kina to go free would only tell the people and the international community that there are two sets of laws in PNG; one for the big pot-bellied people and another for the tiny, small people.
Our lawyers, magistrates and judges who are involved in such cases should be ashamed of themselves for promoting injustice in this country.
They should voluntarily resign as they are not doing their jobs fairly and honestly according to the laws of this country.
Everyone deserves to be treated the same and our courts system must practice fair justice.
