Why hang Kumuls on one poor performance

THE performance of the Kumuls at Kokopo last month was embarrassing.

Their defence was poor and they could not contain the Kangaroos one on one.

As Mal Meninga said after the match, “it was a reality check” for the Kumuls.

Sad to say, I agree with him.

It was good that the Kumuls had a run against a near full-strength Kangaroos side. They are the benchmark of international league and it showed where we are. Rugby is a game of 80 minutes.

It involves a lot of elements such as skills, talent, strength, agility, fitness, stamina and discipline, just to name a few.

If we cannot perform in the 80 minutes, then we cannot put up a fight against the best teams.

A lot of criticism were voiced by many fans and they were entitled to do so. It shows how much passion they have for league.

However, we should not judge the management of team on this single match.

I believe that a lot of money, time, energy and resources have been pumped into the national side.

I urge all Papua New Guineans to support the Kumuls regardless of what you think of the lineup.

Go Kumuls, give it your best shot and go out with all guns blazing.
