Why the fuss over state of origin?

Letters

WHY do Papua New Guineans go crazy and behave inappropriately during the state of origin games?
The state of origin is played in Australia between two states and has nothing to do with PNG rugby.
They don’t even consider our international players.
A good example is our own, Justin Olam.
Despite the lack of good forwards in the maroons’ side, Olam was not considered for a spot for some reason. So what’s the point of being excited beyond control?
Apart from supporting the National Rugby League, I’ve seen that we get out of control during state of origin games and that results in damage to properties, unnecessary conflicts and loss of lives. If you’re going to watch the series, please do it responsibly.
It’s just a game, it’s nothing important that is not worth losing our decency over.
