A WOMAN who allegedly used two others to extort money from her husband has been told to bring two persons from her village to pay her surety fees when she next appears in court.
Central Court Magistrate Laura Wawun Kuvi read Mellie Lavaki the charge and granted her K500 bail.
The case was adjourned to Oct 15 .
Lavaki is expected to bring two persons of standing from her Iokea village in Malalaua, Gulf.
“You have to look for two persons of standing in your community and bring them with you when you next appear,” Magistrate Kuvi told Lavaki.
“They will have to pay some surety fees and be your guarantors in this matter.”
Lavaki, 49, allegedly planned with two others to extort K2,000 from her husband.
Her husband, Paul Paiva, is a businessman and is also from the same village.
Paiva on Sept 19 received a call from a woman who did not identify herself saying some men had given K10,000 to eight sorcerers to kill him on Sept 23.
The woman told him to meet her at Koki with K2,000 and she would set him free from death.
Paiva reported the matter to police.
Police arrested the two at their scheduled meeting place.
