THE Kemele Hela Wigmen franchise have been given every opportunity to grow from in its infancy stages by Komo-Magarima MP Francis Potape.

Potape, like his fellow Hela MP’s, believe that the Wigmen is an icon to their young people and signifies a huge opportunity for their rugby league-mad province to strive for higher excellence.

The MP said his district was proud to be associated with this exciting prospect as it unifies the young people, and to ensure its longevity, he handed over K70,000 as part payment of his K120,000 commitment made earlier this year.

Potape made special reference to the win over champions Agmark Gurias in Mendi.

“While it was a great win, the main issue about bringing the game back is for the players to enjoy and be part of the progress nationwide,” he added.

He also said that Wigmen would certainly rise one-day when the franchise finds its home-base in Tari.

Wigmen board chairman Andy Hetra said the financial support was welcomed as it would go a long way towards supporting their endeavors as they embark on a stronger second-round.

“We hope that we will be great custodians of the Wigmen brand and whatever we do on or off the field, it is a reflection of our leaders and their support,” Hetra added.
