KROTON Hela Wigmen chairman Andy Hetra named his final squad and extended list for the 2019 Digicel Cup.
“Our selections for this year has been within our own programme,” Hetra said.
“We had District Peace games in Koroba, Hela, over the 2018 Christmas period where all districts in Hela turned up to participate.
“A 50-man squad was picked and after a possibles versus probables match, was reduced to 25.”
Hetra said the team trained for the Ipatas Cup in Mendi in January and early Feb in Wapenamanda.
“With the support of Ipwenz Construction, Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd and the Hela government, we brought the team to Port Moresby for trials.
“Our selectors picked a 50-man squad that took on the Central Dabaris two weeks ago and it was reduced to a final 25 plus and extended squad and junior development players.
“They’ll play the Vipers on Sunday as a curtain raiser to the Hunters game. Our goal this year is to play a consistent brand off football and just be better each week.
