FLYING in a helicopter can be the most enthralling experience for anyone, but hovering low and watching wild animals roaming freely in their sanctuary is indeed a breath-taking experience.
This picture was captured in Tonda, Western, near the PNG-Indonesia border on police helicopter last Saturday when police headquarter staff went to Weam to deliver supplies for Sgt Trophy Baworo who is based at Weam.
The roaring helicopter engine and sound of powerful blades whipping against the wind caused fear for these  two petrified animals as they scrambled into a waterlogged paddock and raced into a thicket of trees huddled together about 300m from the helicopter.
Panic-stricken by this thunderous noise and the sight of men, a flock of birds fluttered their wings and soared into the air.
Tonda is a wildlife conservation area and deer, wild boar, different bird species, wallabies, cattle and even wild horses live in this beautiful wildlife sanctuary. – Words and picture by
