Wimp bags women’s bowls title

CATHERINE Wimp from Mt Hagen has claimed the 2014 National Women’s Bowling Singles title held in Lae last weekend.
The two-day event attracted 36 women from throughout the country coming from Mt Hagen, Chimbu, Goroka, Madang, Port Moresby Defence Bowls, Bulolo and Lae Bowls. 
Lae came out in strength to reclaim the title held by the late Michelle Soten. But their efforts went to waste when Wimp stuck with a stylish effort.
Lae’s Cesly Simbinali, Lyn Boino and Jenny Kagu settled for the second, third and fourth placing.
Also coming up in the annual bowling calendar in PNG is the Men’s Masters Singles in Port Moresby from February 22-23.
