Wiru make O’Neill chief

THE Wiru people of Pangia, Southern Highlands, are planning a major celebration to declare Prime Minister Peter O’Neill as the Wiru Chief on Dec 17.
The event is planned to reaffirm the trust, support and solidarity the people have for O’Neill.
Organising committee chairman David Pawa Paire said via fax from Pangia that all village leaders, chiefs, pastors, women and youth leaders were preparing for the event.
He said a grandstand for the event was being erected at Poloko village. 
The people have congratulated O’Neill, Treasurer Don Polye and the government for the successful tabling of the 2012 budget.
Poloko’s chief Koke Yabera and South Wiru youth leader Robin Andrew said O’Neill was an asset to his people and the nation.
